Green Bond Principles - Voluntary Process Guidelines for Issuing Green Bonds - June 2025

The Green Bond Principles (GBP) – June 2025 Edition provide a globally recognized voluntary framework to enhance transparency, integrity, and accountability in the green bond market.

Published under the governance of the Principles and coordinated by ICMA, the GBP outline four core components:

Use of Proceeds, Process for Project Evaluation and Selection, Management of Proceeds, and Reporting.

The 2025 edition strengthens guidance by incorporating references to the Green Enabling Projects Guidance (June 2024) and expanding the definition of eligible projects to include “activities.”

The document emphasizes environmental objectives such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, pollution prevention, and sustainable resource management.

By promoting disclosure, external reviews, and impact reporting, the GBP aim to build investor confidence and accelerate capital flows toward environmentally sustainable and net-zero aligned projects worldwide.
