TNFD - Recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures

The Recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) provides a practical framework for companies and financial institutions to identify, assess, manage and disclose nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.

Building on the TCFD and aligning with ISSB, GRI and the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, it introduces 14 recommended disclosures across governance, strategy, risk and impact management, and metrics and targets.

A major strength is its emphasis on location-specific assessment, recognising that nature-related risks—such as water scarcity, ecosystem degradation and biodiversity loss—vary across regions and value chains.

The TNFD’s LEAP approach helps organisations locate their interfaces with nature, evaluate impacts and dependencies, assess financial risks and opportunities, and prepare meaningful responses and disclosures.

Overall, the framework positions nature as a strategic financial and business issue rather than solely a corporate responsibility concern.
